How To Make Hard Choices
This technique will change your life.
I used to shrivel up in the depths of my mind at the thought of making a hard choice.
The pain of “what if I choose wrong?” or “what if it all fails?” rang through my entire body, leaving me thinking that no choice was better than either option.
Not making a choice is still a choice.
It’s a choice to put your dreams on hold.
A choice to not have the love you deserve.
A choice to stay small.
A choice to accept our current reality is all that there is.
But deep down you know that’s not the truth.
These hard choices are the type that leave a pit in your stomach and lump in your throat. It means you’re on the edge of a paradigm shift.
And the fear of stepping into something so unknown and insecure blooms paralyzation.
On Instagram I shared my strategy for making the difficult, gut wrenching choices. One that transforms them into inspired action.
You can check that out here- and to add to the juiciness, I’m breaking it down below.
Visualization for making hard choices.
Close your eyes and follow me, you can trust yourself.
Imagine, you’re sitting in a movie theater, the most comfortable seat in the house. Your favorite seat.
It feels nice here. The temperature is just how you like it, as you slide deep into the cushion.
The movie screen in front of you flickers from black, and a movie of YOUR life lights up the room.
Look in the seats around you. They’re filled with all the past, present and future versions of you.
The little girl, the reckless teenager, the lover, the one who got their heart broken, the successful business owner and whatever version you could imagine yourself to be.
They too are watching this movie.
You feel calmed by their presence as life unfolds on the screen.
One by one, scenes from your life play out. How does it feel to have every version of you witness your life thus far?
How are they reacting?
What kind of movie can you play that would leave them clapping, cheering, crying and completely moved by the story that is your life?
What are the choices you’d make?
The movie changes, and starts playing that future.
All versions of you put their hands together, routing for you, laughing, smiling as they turn to you and say “that was incredible.”
Notice the choices you made. Feel how proud you are of yourself. Do the dang thing.
I believe in you.
I love you.
